SEGGER's J-Trace PRO offers turnkey instruction tracing for ST's high-performance STM32N6 microcontrollers with AI acceleration

SEGGER's J-Trace PRO now provides out-of-the-box instruction tracing for STMicroelectronics's STM32N6 microcontroller units (MCUs). Based on the Arm® Cortex®-M55 processor, the new MCUs are ST's most powerful for enabling high-performance edge-device artificial intelligence.

The STM32N6 series contains an embedded proprietary neural processing unit, multiple graphics accelerators, a computer vision pipeline, and a multimedia encoder and decoder.

J-Trace PRO is SEGGER’s streaming trace probe that is capable of capturing full traces over long periods, allowing for recording of hard-to-reproduce and infrequently occurring bugs. It offers unlimited live code coverage and code profiling, and it makes use of a SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface for continuous streaming traces. It also offers the SEGGER J-Link debug probe’s full complement of debug features.

With J-Trace PRO, developers working with the STM32N6 series get fast and efficient data analysis, noticeable boosts in productivity, reduced risk levels, and lower costs. With trace support provided straight out of the package, and a sample project included, users can get up and running within minutes.

Finally, users can also benefit from other compatible products in the SEGGER toolchain, such as the SystemView real-time software analysis tool and the Embedded Studio all-in-one integrated development environment.

“SEGGER, an authorized ST partner, has further expanded support for our products,” says Laurent Hanus, Microcontroller Ecosystem Product Marketing Manager, STMicroelectronics. “Within the embedded industry, SEGGER’s J-Trace PRO product family has a long-standing reputation for quality, reliability, and ease of use. The ability to get key device features up and running as well as optimize embedded systems of all kinds is going to benefit a wide range of users, regardless of their experience level.”

“SEGGER J-Trace streaming trace probes are the market’s leading solution for analyzing, verifying, and profiling code,” says Dirk Akemann, Head of Technical Marketing, SEGGER. “Developers using these new MCUs from ST will, no doubt, be looking for advanced tracing features, and they won’t need to look any further than J-Trace PRO.”
